An anti-war protester has been fined £170 in Bosnia for decorating a statue of Jesus with three multi-coloured condoms and a plate inscribed 'Peace'.
Fedja Stukan placed the condoms over three fingers on the statue's right hand and left a note at the Sarajevo monument, saying 'Make love not war'.
A judge at the Sarajevo court said his protest had offended the country's Catholic Church.
Stukan commented: "It's ridiculous. I've never ever heard of anyone being fined because of three condoms.
"I did not want to offend Catholics but only suggested that it was better to make love rather than war."
Bosnian Catholic Church officials insisted that local Catholics were deeply offended by the protest.
"He did offend Catholics. We simply can not understand such a move," said church spokesman Marko Josipovic
